Candles in a Winter Wonderland

Snowballs Throughout the World
by Liam (3rd grade)

I’m skiing down a mountain.
I’m soaring into snow.
I’m watching the snowflakes as they fall from the sky.
I’m building an ice castle with lots of snow.
I’m lighting Hanukkah candles late at night.
I’m watching football on TV at night.
I’m sipping hot chocolate.
I make a mound of snow and shake it until the snow falls off.
I’m shoveling snow off my lawn.
I’m in Pennsylvania having fun.

Grandma
by William (4th grade)

Grandma is teaching me
how to write and read,
but I know the math.
She’s also teaching me
to celebrate Hanukkah
because I want to learn it.
My grandma is the best!

Winter Memories
by Radyah (4th grade)

The world is a winter wonderland.
The sun backs away as winter says hello.
Green grass disappears as snow clouds fall.

As we follow the smudged footsteps
Into our completed resolutions,
We drink hot cocoa next to the fire
To keep us warm.

Bundled up like a chubby snowman,
We play games in the snow.
Snow angels on the ground,
The trees are crystals.

Temperatures are low,
Skies are turning gray,
The heater is swishing all day.

Snowflakes are stars on the ground.
We smile looking at the bright, white snow.
But wanting to keep warm,
We go to our whipped cream-covered house.
