The Middle Hour

By Roman (Junior High School)

I exist in the lingering day
the twilight
stuck in the middle
caught in between the hours

I am the twilight
the tired day
noticing my dreams
crawling toward me
I am eager to meet them
And afraid of what they might be
I see the night before me
yet I wish anything but to reach it

I wait for the last second
before changing
never wanting to
yet always managing to
complete
I see what I wish to not see
the engulfing dark of night

Yet as I enter the deep
dark void
I realize
day
is just around the bend
